Our study destinations at Byahe Visa continue to be welcome and/or hold a positive outlook for international students amid the current unprecedented times we are living in. To give you a condensed and timely update on the situation on each of these countries with regard to visa applications, travel restrictions, and other conditions relevant to international students, we have put together this at a glance guide to the most immediate information you should know. Australia, in a media release by its Acting Minister for Immigration said, "We are a welcoming nation with a world-class education system and some of the lowest rates of COVID-19 in the world. Students want to study here and we want to welcome them back in a safe and measured way when it is safe to do so." Its Education Minister adds, "As well as supporting jobs, international education builds our connection to the rest of the world and supports a number of critical industries like health, aged and disability care. Our remarkable efforts in controlling the spread of the virus mean we can begin to welcome back international students in a COVID safe way once state borders re-open and face-to-face learning resumes." - Australian Minister for Education Dan Tehan For more updated information on Australia's student visa policies, visit this bulletin from the Department of Home Affairs website. Meanwhile in Canada, gradual entry of some international students started in October of last year. International students have been permitted to enter Canada provided that they will be "attending a designated learning institution that has been identified by their provincial or territorial government as having a COVID‑19 readiness plan in place." Furthermore, international students are "required to hold a study permit or study permit approval, noting that a study permit alone is not a travel authorization and the international student must attend a DLI that a province or territory has determined as having appropriate measures in place to ensure students can meet the obligation under the Quarantine Act with respect to mandatory isolation or quarantine," according to this IRCC bulletin. You can find more information about by consulting Canada's Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) page, Coronavirus disease (COVID-19): Designated learning institutions reopening to international students. Immigration New Zealand (INZ) is currently not accepting student visa applications since suspending the processing in August 2020, extending it until the end of February 2021. According to a release by Education New Zealand (ENZ), the decision was made in the interest of students – INZ wants to make sure students do not incur the costs associated with a visa application while no applications can be processed. The report adds that many of the documents required as part of the visa process would quickly become out of date if INZ continued to accept applications but not process them. This means students would face additional effort and costs to update essential information (for example, the chest X-rays which are required where there is a tuberculosis risk) once processing resumed. The health, safety and wellbeing of everyone currently in New Zealand remains the Government’s top priority. New Zealand and New Zealanders look forward to welcoming you here when the time is right. - ENZ Visit these links for more information:
